The antibody is specific to the human antigen E-selectin (ELAM-1, 115 kDa) that is expressed on activated endothelial cells. The ligand is expressed on neutrophils and may function as an early part in neutrophil binding to the endothelium. This antibody is expressed on cytokine-stimulated endothelium, weakly on unactivated endothelium, and is absent on leukocytes.
