The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing BLyS. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS9309880 kit is based on BLyS antibody-BLyS antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect BLyS antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, BLyS. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

The protein encoded by this gene is a cytokine that belongs to the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) ligand family. This cytokine is a ligand for receptors TNFRSF13B/TACI, TNFRSF17/BCMA, and TNFRSF13C/BAFFR. This cytokine is expressed in B cell lineage cells, and acts as a potent B cell activator. It has been also shown to play an important role in the proliferation and differentiation of B cells. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified.
