Antibody/Peptide Pairs
GNPAT peptide (MBS9226419) is used for blocking the activity of GNPAT antibody (MBS9207805)
Research Use Only
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.
3D Structure
ModBase 3D Structure for O15228
Specificity
The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody was selected from the C-term region of human GNPAT. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.
Form/Format
Synthetic peptide was lyophilized with 100% acetonitrile and is supplied as a powder. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml DI water for a final concentration of 1 mg/ml.
Cellular Location
Peroxisome membrane; Peripheral membrane protein; Matrix side. Note: Exclusively localized to the lumenal side of the peroxisomal membrane.
Preparation and Storage
Maintain refrigerated at 2-8 degree C for up to 6 months. For long term storage store at -20 degree C.
Other Notes
Small volumes of GNPAT blocking peptide vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for GNPAT
This gene encodes an enzyme located in the peroxisomal membrane which is essential to the synthesis of ether phospholipids. Mutations in this gene are associated with rhizomelic chondrodysplasia punctata. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2015]
UniProt Comments for GNPAT
GNPAT: Defects in GNPAT are the cause of rhizomelic chondrodysplasia punctata type 2 (RCDP2). RDCP2 is characterized by rhizomelic shortening of femur and humerus, vertebral disorders, cataract, cutaneous lesions and severe mental retardation. Belongs to the GPAT/DAPAT family.
Protein type: EC 2.3.1.42; Lipid Metabolism - glycerophospholipid; Transferase
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1q42
Cellular Component: membrane; peroxisomal matrix; peroxisomal membrane; peroxisome
Molecular Function: glycerone-phosphate O-acyltransferase activity; palmitoyl-CoA hydrolase activity; receptor binding
Biological Process: ether lipid biosynthetic process; phosphatidic acid biosynthetic process
Disease: Rhizomelic Chondrodysplasia Punctata, Type 2
