Product Note
Select online data sheet information is drawn from bioinformatics databases, occasionally resulting in ambiguous or non-relevant product information. It is the responsibility of the customer to review, verify, and evaluate the information to make sure it matches their requirements before purchasing the kit. Our ELISA Kit assays are dynamic research tools and sometimes they may be updated and improved. If the format of this assay is important to you then please request the current manual or contact our technical support team with a presales inquiry before placing an order. We will confirm the current details of the assay. We cannot guarantee the sample manual posted online is the most current manual.
Other Notes
Small volumes of ABCG5 elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

MBS1600246 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the ATP-binding cassette sub-family G member 5 (ABCG5) ELISA Kit target analytes in
biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing ABCG5. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS1600246 kit is based on ABCG5 antibody-ABCG5 antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect ABCG5 antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, ABCG5. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

ABCG5 elisa kit
Intended Uses: This sandwich kit is for the accurate quantitative detection of Rat ATP-Binding Cassette Sub-Family G Member 5 (also known as ABCG5) in serum, plasma, cell culture supernates, cell lysates, tissue homogenates.
Principles of the Assay: This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with Rat ABCG5 antibody. ABCG5 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Rat ABCG5
Antibody is added and binds to ABCG5 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated ABCG5 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Rat ABCG5. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

NCBI Summary for ABCG5
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the superfamily of ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters. ABC proteins transport various molecules across extra- and intra-cellular membranes. ABC genes are divided into seven distinct subfamilies (ABC1, MDR/TAP, MRP, ALD, OABP, GCN20, White). This protein is a member of the White subfamily. The protein encoded by this gene functions as a half-transporter to limit intestinal absorption and promote biliary excretion of sterols. It is expressed in a tissue-specific manner in the liver, colon, and intestine. This gene is tandemly arrayed on chromosome 2, in a head-to-head orientation with family member ABCG8. Mutations in this gene may contribute to sterol accumulation and atheroschlerosis, and have been observed in patients with sitosterolemia. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
UniProt Comments for ABCG5
ABCG5 and ABCG8 form an obligate heterodimer that mediates Mg2+- and ATP-dependent sterol transport across the cell membrane (PubMed:27144356). Plays an essential role in the selective transport of dietary plant sterols and cholesterol in and out of the enterocytes and in the selective sterol excretion by the liver into bile (PubMed:11099417, PubMed:11138003, PubMed:27144356, PubMed:15054092). Required for normal sterol homeostasis (PubMed:11099417, PubMed:11138003, PubMed:15054092). The heterodimer with ABCG8 has ATPase activity (PubMed:16893193, PubMed:20210363, PubMed:27144356).
