The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS2020875 kit is based on TRH antibody-TRH antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect TRH antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, TRH. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

This assay employs the competitive inhibition enzyme immunoassay technique. A monoclonal antibody specific to Thyrotropin Releasing Hormone (TRH) has been pre-coated onto a microplate. A competitive inhibition reaction is launched between biotin labeled Thyrotropin Releasing Hormone (TRH) and unlabeled Thyrotropin Releasing Hormone (TRH) (Standards or samples) with the pre-coated antibody specific to Thyrotropin Releasing Hormone (TRH). After incubation the unbound conjugate is washed off. Next, avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. The amount of bound HRP conjugate is reverse proportional to the concentration of Thyrotropin Releasing Hormone (TRH) in the sample. After addition of the substrate solution, the intensity of color developed is reverse proportional to the concentration of Thyrotropin Releasing Hormone (TRH) in the sample.

This gene encodes a member of the thyrotropin-releasing hormone family. Cleavage of the encoded proprotein releases mature thyrotropin-releasing hormone, which is a tripeptide hypothalamic regulatory hormone. The human proprotein contains six thyrotropin-releasing hormone tripeptides. Thyrotropin-releasing hormone is involved in the regulation and release of thyroid-stimulating hormone, as well as prolactin. TRH: Functions as a regulator of the biosynthesis of TSH in the anterior pituitary gland and as a neurotransmitter/ neuromodulator in the central and peripheral nervous systems.
