Preparation and Storage
Storage: Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Store at 4 degree C for frequent use.
Aliquot and store at -20 degree C for 12 months.
Stability Test: The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37 degree C for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate is less than 5% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

NCBI Summary for ADAM12
This gene encodes a member of a family of proteins that are structurally related to snake venom disintegrins and have been implicated in a variety of
biological processes involving cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions, including fertilization, muscle development, and neurogenesis. Expression of this gene has been used as a maternal serum marker for pre-natal development. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. Shorter isoforms are secreted, while longer isoforms are membrane-bound form. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2014]
UniProt Comments for ADAM12
ADAM12: contains a disintegrin and metalloprotease (ADAM) domain 12, which is a member of the ADAM protein family. Involved in skeletal muscle regeneration, specifically at the onset of cell fusion, and the differentiation of macrophage-derived giant cells (MGC) and osteoclasts. 2 alternative splicing isoforms have been described: a shorter secreted form and a longer membrane-bound form. The shorter form stimulates myogenesis.
Protein type: EC 3.4.24.-; Membrane protein, integral; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; Protease
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 10q26.2
Cellular Component: extracellular space; integral component of membrane; nucleoplasm; plasma membrane
Molecular Function: metal ion binding; metalloendopeptidase activity; metallopeptidase activity; SH3 domain binding
Biological Process: cell adhesion; extracellular matrix organization; myoblast fusion; proteolysis
Research Articles on ADAM12
1. A novel regulator, myoferlin, of ADAM12 is discovered in HeLa cells and this protein increases ADAM12 expression level, stability, and its enzymatic activity, leading to the reduction of its substrate, E-cadherin, which plays important roles in the regulation of cell adhesion and tumor metastasis.
