anti-TUBB2b antibody
Introduction: TUBB2B is a beta isoform of tubulin, which binds GTP and is a major component of microtubules. Numerous beta Tubulin isoforms have been characterized and are expressed in mammalian tissues. Tubulin binds two moles of GTP, one at an exchangeable site on the beta chain and one at a non-exchangeable site on the alpha-chain. TUBB2b is mostly expressed in developing neurons with a dominant expression during the critical steps of corticogenesis. In addition, TUBB2B is a new critical gene involved in neuronal migration. TUBB2B is present in the nuclei and nucleoplasm, Defects in the TUBB2B gene are a cause of asymmetric polymicrogyria.

Application Notes for anti-TUBB2b antibody
TUBB2b antibody has been tested by ELISA, Western blot and Immunofluorescence analysis to assure specificity and reactivity. Since application varies, however, each investigation should be titrated by the reagent to obtain optimal results. Recommended dilution range for Western blot analysis and Immunofluorescence is 1:250 ~ 500. Recommended starting dilution is 1:250.

NCBI Summary for TUBB2b
The protein encoded by this gene is a beta isoform of tubulin, which binds GTP and is a major component of microtubules. This gene is highly similar to TUBB2A and TUBB2C. Defects in this gene are a cause of asymmetric polymicrogyria. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2010]
UniProt Comments for TUBB2b
TUBB2B: Tubulin is the major constituent of microtubules. It binds two moles of GTP, one at an exchangeable site on the beta chain and one at a non-exchangeable site on the alpha-chain. TUBB2B is implicated in neuronal migration. Defects in TUBB2B are a cause of polymicrogyria asymmetric (PMGA). PMGA is a malformation of the cortex in which the brain surface is irregular and characterized by an excessive number of small gyri with abnormal lamination. Belongs to the tubulin family.
Protein type: Cytoskeletal
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 6p25
Cellular Component: microtubule; cytoplasm; nucleus
