The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing C8A. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS923290 kit is based on C8A antibody-C8A antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect C8A antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, C8A. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

C8A: Constituent of the membrane attack complex (MAC) that plays a key role in the innate and adaptive immune response by forming pores in the plasma membrane of target cells. C8A inserts into the target membrane, but does not form pores by itself. Defects in C8A are a cause of complement component 8 deficiency type 1 (C8D1). A rare defect of the complement classical pathway associated with susceptibility to severe recurrent infections, predominantly by Neisseria gonorrhoeae or Neisseria meningitidis. Belongs to the complement C6/C7/C8/C9 family.
